Hello everyone

HI I am new here and this is my first Maxima .. It is a 1997 with 140,000 miles (yikes). Before I bought this car, I was researching and found this website. I was very impressed with what I was reading and I decided to buy it for a very good price.. I hope I can learn as much as I can from all of you this and be able to keep this car running for a long time.. I do have a question though... MY fog lights won't come on.. Does anyone know why and what I could do...

Thanks

Check the fuses and the bulbs. If they are fine, then check the relay in the engine compartment by the passenger side fender. If this is fine then check the switch itself by the column.

You probably already know this, but I think the low-beams must be on for the foglights to work...

I rewired mine so that they are on all the time...so I'm not sure if I stated that correctly.

But just thought that would help ya...some people dont know this.

The Max is more of a car than all of those combined, I'm sure its a world of a difference.

Welcome to the org. Don't worry about that 140k. That's break in mileage for these cars. Keep an eye on the Northeastern forum. We usually have a New England meet just about every month. It's a good way to meet members and get ideas for your car.

yah this site is the amazing. I used to enjoy paying someone to fix my car, but now I enjoy doing it myself and like to waste the money I saved on other stuff.

The first thing i attempted was to replace my LEDS on the climate control to all ultrabright Red. That was cool and it worked.

Welcome fellow newbie
I joined a few weeks ago. Been addicted ever since. lots of good info here. One warning, If you have Altezza tails, try not to mention it lol. I happen to like mine, but most people on the org seem to prefer the red/clears and curse the people with altezzas. I find them to be too close to the look of stock tails and wonder why people even bother replacing them to look...almost the same. Ok enough about my grudge with the tail light issue lol. Welcome.

hey, I used to have altezzas. no, they're not popular here. I must admit though. I did get more compliments on my car when I had them.

I'm kinda tired of hearing people say that 140k on a max is nothing. It such BS. How do you know the person before took good care of the car? For all you know it may fall aprat on you in a week. Almost all cars can get 200k+ miles these days if they are maintained properly.

Maxima quality you say...
They are nice cars, yes, but not what I would call quality. All of us mod our cars cause stock is so quality? Maybe if we were in a Ferrari forum, we could throw around words like quality. Now those guys have quality...so much in fact..they rarely mod their cars. We spend a few hundred here, a grand there...and act like nissans are so above something. Don't get me wrong, I love my Max. But most of us don't earn enough to know what quality really means.

Otis,

I wasn't referring the quality of exotic cars on the market. I was just comparing civics to maximas, thats why i said "maxima quality" and not "ferrari quality"

I agree about the 140K if it was taken care.. I did notice my car has been serviced at a jiffy lube type using Vavoline oil the last few years... I'm changing that. any recommendations?? I The antifreeze looks like **** so I want to flush it all out and add some new coolant..Oh yeah the drivers side axle boot is leaking grease. Getting that done this weekend.
Overall I paid $3300 for the whole car but it runs really nice.....
