Need HELP ASAP! 99 Nissan Maxima GLE

Well when i try to start my car all it will do is "turn over" like its normally trying to start..Only thing is it doesnt start...In other words i turn the key to start the car and it acts like its starting normally but the car just does not start...What do you think it could be? Im thinking possibly no fuel getting to my car? I dont think i hear the fuel pump pumping gas into the engine when i put the key to the ON position..usually you can hear the fuel pump working already... any help would be appreciated asap thank you all!

THE EXACT same thing happened to my '95 gle yesterday... i didnt look at it yet, but it could be bad coils, or the fuel injectors could be flooded. or the alternator could be bad.

Sounds like you may have fallen victim to the chipped key issue. Since your's is a 99 there is a chip in your key that if the car doesnt detect it will cut fuel to the engine, thus not starting. I dont have a 99 but if i remember correctly, if your security light stays on during trying to start then you have activated the anti-theft system and need to have the dealer look at the car to reset the system.

If that was the case - the engine wouldn't turn over. Seems like it is either a camshaft sensor, a coil or a fuel pump. I'd place the bet on the camshaft sensor or coil. Either way -tow it to somewhere you can read codes.

Engine turns over all day long with the security engaged, as i said it cuts power to the fuel pump, not the starter silly. Since no fuel gets to engine, engine will not start.
Id place my bets on the security issue, before any mechanical/sensor failure. Car should start ok with failed coil or two just run like crap or die after start. bad camshaft sensor could cause it not to start, same with broken fuel pump. However the eaisest thing to do is see if the security light is on before you start wasting time and money throwing parts at the car.

Being a 1999 Maxima, I'm 99.9999% sure its your cars immobilizer system. Common problem for this year. Only thing you can do is tow it to a dealership have have system/keys re-programed. Average cost = $125. Nissan has even issued a TSB on this problem.

how come nobody has mentioned a possible dead battery yet? before you go thru all that trouble, jumpstart the battery first to see what happens. a weak battery will cause the engine to try to crank but won't turn over.
