polarity of the stock bulb in heat switches

The bulb in my heated seat switch blew and I would like to replace it with and LED, but i dont know the polarity. So for those of you who have changed it with an led, with the tip of the stock bulb facing you, does the current flow from left to right of through bulb or does it flow right to left of through bulb?

PS: sorry if this was dicussed already, but i couldnt find a thread on it.

I don't have heated seats, so I don't know.

But to find out, connect a test light to a good ground and turn on your lights. Test either side of the switch, the side that makes your test light turn ON is the positive side. The other is the negative.

^^^ There isnt a seperate switch that turns on the light. The light comes on when the heat seat switch is pressed. There are two copper contacts in which current flows through to light the bulb, when the metal contacts for the switch is pressed.

In that case... unless someone knows the answer, you can find out another way. Just put the LED (with it's resistor) and try it, if it doesn't light, reverse it. The LED won't get hurt as long as it has a resistor, the only thing that'll happen if it's reversed is it won't light.

Hope this helps.

^^^ I was about to say the same thing. Diodes are used backwards sometimes to block voltage, so it's safe to test it that way. And ground is common, so most likely you can trace the ground
