Alternator

I finally got my power wire in my car. How good are maxima alternator's? Has anyone replaced there after they put a stereo in. My amp is a Rockford 1100a2 that put's out 1296 watts rms. I don't turn the amp up that much cause it is very powerful. Will my alternator be ok or will I need a new one. My car has 140,000 on it and I think it is a stock alternator. I also have 3 1/2 farad caps to help.

It's going to see a bigger load which means it will work harder. When it dies, replace it. The caps will help keep the power/current supply to the amp and draw from your car's electrical system smooth.

I really can't comment on how good the Max alternator's are regarding audio gear BUT have you had your alternator replaced? I've got a 97 SE 5spd and found that there was a recall on the alternators. Even though I wasn't having any problems I took it to the dealer and he verified that there was indeed a recall and they replaced it with a new one. Hey, I bought the car when it was 3 yrs old, I couldn't turn down the opportunity for a free new alternator. You might want to check with your dealer to see if your year was included. Cheers
