Those with B&G Springs, what do you think?

Those of you who have B&G springs, what opinion do you have of them? I'm looking for something to give me a small drop and improve the handling, but do not want a harsh ride as my 97 SE is my daily driver. I will be pairing them up with a set of KYB AGX shocks/struts. Thanks-

B&G + AGX = Harsh ride & a pretty low drop. I had that setup in my car for about a month. Couldn't take it, took them out.

I have B&G's, they're a very low drop.. they're lower than what they say on their specifications. They're pretty rough.. I'm in dire need of new struts. Here in NYC I have to dodge potholes left and right.

Jeff -

Many people on the org looking for a suspension setup such as you describe have gone with the H&R Springs with Tokico Illumina struts and shocks. That is the combination I have on my daily driver and it's a good one. The AGXs are OK, but they seem to ride harsher than the Illuminas, especially over breaks in pavement, potholes, etc. The Illumina's ride seems more compliant. Better than stock, IMHO.

Thanks for the info guys. I was about to purchase this set-up used from a local seller. I think I'll pass on it as it does not appear to be what I'm looking for.
Will the Tokico's work well with stock SE springs? Where's a good place to purchase?

I for one really like my B&G springs. The drop is very nice, definately better than the H&Rs I had on before. The problem with the setup that you were looking at is more the struts. I also have the AGXs and the ride is pretty harsh. The AGXs give a pretty harsh ride. I heard from many others (when the B&Gs were more popular and widely available) that the B&Gs were fairly soft. Not QUITE as soft as the H&Rs but not too harsh like Sprints. If you paired the B&Gs with some Tockico Illuminas or Koni Yellows than I think you'd be pretty happy. On the other hand, you said you're looking for a small drop. The drop with the B&Gs is definately lower than with the H&Rs. The H&Rs will give you a stock look (compared to other types of cars) and the B&Gs will give you a lowered look.

I had b&g with agx for about 6 months. They rode very harsh and they didn't drop alot either. I switched over to eibach/illuminas and the ride quality, drop, and handling is much improved.

I like my B&G's I'm not going to lie but the ride is pretty harsh... my struts are blown so thats definately teh problem.. I just love the drop itself. Check out these pics. I'm going to get some Illuminas sooner or later. Hopefully that will help... although if I get the Firebird WS6 I want, I may switch to H&R's and Illuminas and keep it as the family car.

well i have to agree with the others on here and say that it isnt the greatest ride in the world, but its manageable. The drop will be uneven if you're a 5 spd however, lower in rear than in front, im an auto and i wish by front was like 3/10" lower perhaps, but the back i have a great drop. The springs dont allow alot of travel and the AGX keep that only to a harsher limit. So i would advise something like either H&R, Eibach, or Tein's paired with either AGX or Illumina's
