steering wheel shakes

steering wheel shakes

left wheel hit the curb few weeks ago, now the steering wheel shakes above 70mph, i want to know what fellow max ppl think before i take it to the shop to get raped. let me know if you have any ideas. million thanks!!!

When your wheel shakes over 70 or so its usually out of alignment, lifetime alignments at most places are like 99 bucks don't take it to the stealership though. Go to firestone or something like that.

Most like one of the following - depending on exactly how you hit the curb:

1. Bent rim
2. Wheel out of balance
3. Bent front-end component (tie-rod, control-arm, etc.).

Take it to a shop and have them take a look for obvious damage, if there is none, then have the rim/tire checked and rebalanced.
