95 Stereo Question...Please Help Before I Screw Up Something
Just purchased a 1995 Maxima SE that has an aftermarket CD player in it that I want out so I can install a new unit I just bought.
I checked all the FAQ/Read First threads and found the link for this:
http://carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalNisMax2.htm
My question is, if my car doesn't have the Bose system and only has an aftermarket CD player, are all the steps in this procedure still necessary to just install a new receiver? I don't want to remove any more of the console than I have to and I'm a bit leery about pulling out all that AC/heater stuff if I don't need to. I've installed several CD decks in the past but I've never owned a vehicle where I didn't have to JUST pop off the moulding and pull the CD deck out by itself.
Any help would be appreciated. Planning on beginning this project when I get home from work.
Nice, informative site here by the way. I'm a n00b here but hope to use it more now that I'm a proud Maxima owner.

Welcome to the org!
Yes - you still have to pull out the entire center console to remove the CD player... its not as bad as it looks - I am always wary off removing all the plastic trim pieces (for fear of breaking them)... the hardest piece to remove is the clock/hazard trim piece... as the instructions show, pry out the bottom with a flat-head screwdriver and then pull the entire trim piece down and towards you - so apply force diagonally downwards on that piece.
The good thing is, even if you crack a trim piece, someone here may have something laying around that you can pick-up cheaply as a replacement.
Enjoy the ride!

Yeah mjmodi is right, u have to remove the whole console. Is really simle if you once or twice......just take your time and follow the instruction on that link you found. My it tooks like 2 hrs...cause i remove all those pieces to painted.
Thanks for the info...was afraid I'd have to take all of that out. And yes, my concern is breaking some of the trim because it seems pretty flimsy. Hopefully it will pop out easier than it looks like it will. Got all night in the garage to do it, so I'll just take my time and hope for the best.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
