Radiator support-Bolt in or Weld in?[Pic]

I was just curious if anyone knew if this radiator support was something I could replace myself or if I'd have to have a shop do it? It looks as though I can, but looks can be deceiving. Thanks.

You look very confused standing there . I believe it is bolted on [not positive] but i don't think they weld that anywhere. I can check Haynes manual when i get home but that probably doesn't do you any good right now.

I belive that is bolted, I may need to replace mine, but I'm sure its bolted in, but you'll have to take just about the whole front off to get, that piece because everything is bolted to that.

just be prepaired to take off a lot of bolts and screws, keep it organized and it should go smoothly.

let me know if it turns out its welded, or if its is indeed bolted.

Nah, Thats my dad. I'm the cameraman.

I kind of figured that was the case. The Insurance guy is comming tomorrow to check it out and cut me a check. Then I'll start buying all the 97-99 stuff and some Cefiros. Thanks a lot for helping me out guys. When I get the car fixed, there will deffinatly be a nice donation for the .org.
Kevin.

that is one entire piece going across the front end of the car... i believe its only bolted to the front end supports. If you can strip the car down and have only the radiator support assembly exposed you should be able to swap it out yourself and save some money. Aftermarket ones cost around $150 plus shipping and wont fit like OEM.

Looks like deer damage to me. That piece is definitely welded. Its part of the unibody. Sorry to go against the grain. I wondered the same thing when I was in an accident. I wanted to replace in myself but at the time I had no idea how to weld. The pieces you guys are getting out of junk yards are pieces that have been ground out.

Sorry to give you bad news, but that thing is welded and riveted on. You'll have to take it to a shop to do and the frame may have to be aligned.

TopElement, I thought the existing welds might be kinda flimsy. Do you think the chassis would be shored up if I ran a bead along all the contact points?

My lower beam is very fxcked. I welded the engine crossmember to it because the support pulled the nuts through the sheet metal. Also, some of the spot welds along the top edge of the lower bar have broken. I'm removing my front end sometime this month to get at it. I think I'm gonna lay a bead all along the top seem. You think that would at least fix the problem if not increase the rigidity from stock?

its welded and you need a frame machine when you take it off to align back the parts properly. i had to change mine twice due to accident not so easy job without experience.
