How do I know that my clutch is going?

I notice when I accelerate hard on 4th or 5th gear, I feel it rev up a bit before it catches gear. If it is my clutch how long do I have left and how much will cost to fix.

1. Sounds like a slipping clutch
2. Depends on how you drive it - how much you keep forcing it to slip
3. Cost depends drastically on where you get it done and what parts you use. It could be anything from 300-1000 bucks.

I only accelerate hard when I pass a car on the highway. That is when I notice it the most.

You mention all the places you DO NOT want to go to... check on the regional forums... there are bunch of guys here that do work on maximas on the side or know of good shops in the specific region you are in... there are a lot of NYers on the org... you will find some good tips/helpful advice.
