Front License Plate Bracket for 1995 Maxima??

I bought a Nissan Maxima (1995) from a friend who lived in New York city. Apparently in NYC you only need back plates but in Washington DC you need front and rear. I was wondering if somebody (i didnt see anything in the faqs) could suggest a good parts supplier to buy this part from. I called the dealer and they wanted 42$s ... also does anybody know off hand if it requires any special tools (i.e. odd shaped screws or whatnot) to mount?

Thanks you for the information!

-Jeff

www.everythingnissan.com , go to the parts search, type in license in the search, should be something close to $25 + shipping.

In NY you most definitely need front and rear plates, maybe he had the plate screwed directly into the bumper without a bracket.

As for the mounting, I'm not sure about 95-96's but on my '97 it's just two regular screws, the 95-96's should be the same.

I'd check a junkyard, I got one for $5 bucks for my brother's car. doesn't matter if it's scuffed, it's all covered up by the plate.

Yeah, but those are generic and you'll have to make holes in the painted portion of the bumper as where the OEM bracket screws into the front slit on the bumper so if you ever remove the bracket, there are no visible holes left behind in the paint.

So I stopped by Advanced Auto Parts at lunch today to pick up some of the generics but they are WAY too small. The bumper goes something like

###\

-----
| <- plate bracket goes in here
|__

###/

I'd say theres about a 2-inch inset cut out of it and there are 2 holes in there. Called some places and they want 35$s for the mounting bracket. Seems like a waste of money for me for something that is just identification!

I had this problem as well. But I still had the bracket but the holes were all drilled out. I used zip ties to hold it up.

Here's a better visual of what jeffsui is trying to draw.
