Does blue smoke come out your exhaust? Is your car overheating? Do you have large oil spots on the driveway?

Could be leaking too, not just burning. How many miles on your max? My car uses some oil between changes.
Check the oil level after they change it and see if they fill it up.

If your not blowing any blueish smoke and there are no leaks then check your plugs see if they have any oil residue on them. You may be burning oil very very slowly over time... or the person who changed your oil last time didnt top it off.

How much oil are you losing?

The oil change tech's should also tell you if your PCV valve is plugged up...if it is it can accelerate the rate you burn oil. Its a cheap part and not bad to change with a couple simple tools....once someone tells you where it is.

My 1996 Max at 126K used very little oil...no more than my new max with half the miles. If this were a GM engine, 1 quart for every 1000 miles wouldn't even get the mechanics to look under the hood in the warranty period. But to use 1 quart every 3K isn't anything to worry about - and thats usually the amount it takes to go between add and max on the dip stick. If you suddenly have a big spike in oil consumption thats more troubling. Who knows...maybe the last guy put in 4.5 quarts instead of 5.

Like it or not, all cars burn some oil....some goes down the valve guides, some gets past the rings....eitherway, you are going to use at least a pint or two even when you car only has 20K on it.

Just check it every couple tanks of gas. Oil is cheap relative to an engine rebuild/swap. For now I wouldn't worry about it.
