OEM alarm going off! Need advice

My OEM alarm is going off. I think the system is useless. I'm thinking of disconnecting the alarm. Anyone know the location of the OEM alarm? The wire color code?

The OEM remote has a panic button. What does it do? where is the signal going to when I press that button? Anyone knwo the wire info? I want to use that button for something else. thanks

If you keep the panic button depressed for a few seconds, the car alarm will sound (beep beep beep, etc)....

That has nothing to do with what he's talking about.

Try posting in the audio/electronics forum.

I was not suggesting that it was the reason his alarm was going off - if thats what you meant.

My bad totally messed up reading that. I think that the alarm box is somewhere underneathe the steering column. But don't go cutting wires. That's where my Viper alarm is hooked up to, but I didn't do the install.

I think pressing the lock/unlock will also turn off the alarm if its going off... (can't remember for sure).

As already stated, you don't want to start cutting wires...

Does the problem only happen when you are near the car (i.e. when the remote is within range) ?

Since the alarm is so annoying, I have no use for it. I figure I can use the Panic button for another channel. All I need is the location of the alarm and wire info. Once I have these info, I can cut it out for good and use the Panic Button for other mods. Ex. turn on headlight etc..

Your alarm "brain" is behind your cigarette lighter/ashtray area. You have to remove the clock, A/C controls and radio to get to it. There's a picture of it and everything in the VQ Power How-to when you want to add a shock sensor. Below is the link.

You mean the BCM (Body Control Module). Yeah, I kind knew it control the 5 LCU's. I had some experience with the module a week ago. Turn out it wasn't the "Brain" causing the problem.

Anyone know where the "Panic Button on remote" signal go when press? Where is the receiver located?
