i have this same question, im doing this mod this weekend with the 105 degree camera.....this should allow me to see the cars in the lanes next to me as well.....and i actually have the monitor in my rearview mirror.....

AS FOR THE REVERSE IMAGE....my pioneer HU (avic-n1) was designed for rearview cam install....so with the push of a button in the settings menu, the reversed image can be flipped back so it appears normal on my screen everytime.....i believe with the avic we can also set it to only go on with my reverse light, or push "rear" on the unit to see back there, or even both.....so im gonna really have fun with this mod....ill post pics of my car this weekend with the rearview monitor and the cam........

First thing I'd do...if I were you is relax...breathe, stretch, shake, let it go.

Next...try popping your trunk and looking behind the mat/cover. There is a little retainer clip that holds the trunk lock in place. Slide that towards the drivers side...it will pop off and then the key hole starts moving...next disconnect the linkage for the lock...and WAH LAAAH you've got the key hole out.

next time...why not look there and see what it takes to do something as simple as this.

For the same reason that AMBULANCE is reversed on the front of ambulances. It reads forward in your rear view...

Very good mod for Max with a 7" TV. For others who don't have one, sucks. Maybe I'll hook it up to one of those portable 7 inch portable dvd player.

My screen also has the reverse function, but be careful, reversing the picture will make it as though something that appears to be on the right side of your car is actually on the left. That could be dangerous. It's safer to just accept that words are going to backwards...

First off, relax. People may not be answering you because either they dont have it, or dont know what you're talking about. Nobody is ignoring you just because. There's a reason for it.

I read your post and was confused on your setup. My camera only had a black wire (for power, which was hooked up to a 12v source), and the yellow wire (picture), which ran directly from the camera to my TV. Im not sure why you have a red connection there.

I had a question about the 12v source and directly emailed the guy. He emailed me right away. Did you get the same one as me (50 degree) or the other one? (105 degree)? Try emailing him to get help on the setup.

Mini-Write UP

1.) Uninstall the trunk lock by unscrewing and un-tabing
2.) be careful and measure the size of the keyhole, and use dremel or bit to shave a little off in order to make it fit (you wont need too much room)
3.) slide it in, and find a 12v source for your main power
4.) Run yellow rca cable to your tv, or some sort of source.

As Maxima polak stated, most difficult part was a little dremmeling and hiding the wires. Don did my setup because I was too much of a bish, so i give everyone here respect for trying it on their own.

also i have one of those htings that you put on a drill, and it makes holes bigger....that would help alot rather thana dremel....but a dremel could work wonders as well

Curious, for those with a trunk mounted battery, how do you guys open your trunk with the battery disconnected (or dead)? You guys rigged a manual release?

Ok, I am starting to get just a touch frustrated. I am trying to release my key-lock on my trunk so I can put my rear-view camera in.

I have been yanking and pulling and twisting that darn black retainer clip towards the drivers side as people wrote above. It is now twisting on it's axis but it's not budging a mm in the direction of the drivers side .

Any suggestions to try and get it to unlodged?

thanks!

if i get mine installed before the GLD track meet in april, we will have plenty of raw footage to do this. i think all you would need to do is have a video output to the computer.
