Battery tie bar (pics)

When I bought my 98 SE, to my surprise I didn't find anything that would hold the battery in place, so I had to make a visit to Home Depot (damn i love that place!!!!)

used 3/4" square tubing, round tubing and a dremel!

Guys check it out, let me know what you think?

bullfrog: inside the tube section there is a long screw (one of those long threaded rods they have at Home Depot) and I drilled a hole in the battery tray put a nut on the bottom and thats it

ok guys, I see that a lot of people like this so what I was thinking is, since I have access to CNC machines I might design a brace and put it for sale and make custom ones whatever, anyone besides MrRogerStatus would be interested?

You cut through that stuff with a dremel? That must've taken awhile.

All right guys, right now, I'm in the process of designing one for the CNC Machines and those will have custom letters/number cut out (e.g. VQ 30 or Maxima) however that will take a little time ~ 2weeks, and will run for about $25 if you want the same one I have, its $20 shipped. PM me whoever is interested.

Great! Sounds good. If you can get "INFINITI" centered on it in the same actual font that's on the trunk lid then that's what I'd like. Thanks.

This is a little off topic. but would a custom tie down need to be made for certain batteries? i upgraded to a optima redtop and its conciderably smaller than my die hard.. small enough to where the threading on the posts dont go far enough down...

Would this be a way of solving that? if so i might be down for this deal lol...

BTW, for the mean time i stuck a bunch of cardboard under it to raise the battery up

sounds like that shouldnt be a problem, just measure how tall the battery is, and just let kraimer21 know, that simple!

This is a good idea actually. I plan on finding a piece of metal that is similar to a stillen tie bar, and then I will cut it and drill 2 holes in it.

Huh it's funny, that's my brother's old car... I was in the backyard a couple of weeks ago and was checking some things and I saw a battery tie down. My car has it, my pops has it, so I was like where did this come from, I gues my brother must have never put it back when he replaced the battery. Nice job Eugene, looks good.
