how to kill speed addiction?

I need to stop flying around town all the time. It is bad for me and my car. I don't get very many tickets at all and when I do, they aren't bad, but that isn't the point. I've owned 3 cars now including my max and all of them have sustained some amount of body damage just from me being stupid at one point or another. It almost seems as if I'm destined to never have a car with a perfect body. If I could just slow down and be normal then I could ride in style like everyone else.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Even a Geo can speed.

Be a man and just stop doing it.

i have a worst problem, i always go over 70 (even in the 45's!) and so when i go the speed limit it's hard for me to keep my foot off, i want to speed so bad. I've gotten better since i've had my gf in the car, she keeps me in check. But if she closes her eye's i'll go for a little bit.....

The most simple thing to do is to think about others on the road.

just think about the gas prices and how much money you will save driving like a sane person. Aside from body damage, think of your tires wearing out, new tires, mount, balance, labor, align, brakes, rotors, pads, $$$, oil, struts, shocks, $$$, hehe. scared u yet?

I learned with a ticket and gas mileage, i used to get 175 miles to the tank. Onced i changed my clutch i had to break it in and i couldnt punch it the car and i got 325 miles to the tank....made a huge difference just thinking about it.

Disconnect the MAF. Not going over 2000 RPM will slow you down.

It's very real for a honda to run 12.5 seconds. It would help if you said stock "accord" or "civic"

It's easier for them to hit 12.5 than us...

swap and/or turbo and/or nitrous

The easy swaps they can get it the main thing that makes them "fast" and helps makes them the most modded cars.

i used to fly around town trying to get into a spirited race against anyone. then i found the 1/4 mile track and it cured me. no worries about tickets, or injuring yourself or others. you get out to the track, race your tail off and the speeding around town seems like a joke. well thats just me !

be safe !

going from a civic to a max is crazy. my civic used to have a hard time accelorating. now with the max, its quieter and bigger and i sometimes dont notice how fast im going until i look down at the speedo. yesterday just passing up a car cause it was blowing clouds of smoke, i looked down and was going 120.

how about putting a bunch of c4 in your car and rig it so that you cant go over 65 or else it goes boom-speed style. i will guarantee you that it would only take one time and your cured of it.

i know a few alone that are running low 12's with no F/I

i say u keep speeding and document it. Show how cops react to your speeding and how bad it feels. I'm so serious too. If you cant control your speeds and u have to come to others to help u stop cause the normal things dont affect u (price of gas or price of new tires or price of ticket), then make good use out of it and document it.

Either you'll get tired of getting speeding tickets and being in accidents, or you'll die. Try envisioning being a pimp in a long white cadillac on a sunday drive ready to slappabish. and NO TECHNO! Techno kills =/

for me, tickets didn't really help... it only last for about a week after a ticket, and then I am at it again..

What helped, was the thread here about the guy who totaled his G35 and killed his friends... that scares the hell out of me!
