How Do I Remove '99 Ecu????

SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!!!!!

i made a big mistake tonight, i was trying to reset my ecu because i put a cat-back exhaust on and the check engine light went on, but when i was turning the screw to reset the ecu, i pushed too hard and it snapped off....now its floating around in my ecu somewhere...i need to take out the whole ecu so i can get that little screw out and figure out how the hell im gonna re-attatch it....can anyone pleeeeeeeease give me some advice as to how the hell i take out the whole ecu??? what bolts do i undo??? all of them??? thanks

4 philips head machine screws (2 in front, 2 in back) and a bit of patience.
Remove harness connector before trying to remove the 2 screws on the passenger side.
Once the four screws are out, the ECU slides out the passenger side.

its a pain in the *** to get to the bolts. use a wrench i found it the easiest. but when i put my ecu back in i didnt bolt back up.

dude i did the same exact thing.. go to www.car-part.com.. and get an ecu with a matching number.. once u install it and everything u have to tow it to a dealer and have them reprogram it.. good luck

what no you dont. i take my ecu out all the time. you dont have to take it to the dealer to reprogram it..

yeah dont make up sh*t, whydo you think people buy spare ECU's and send theirs to TS or JWT to reprogram their own, so they dont have any downtime.

btw the removal of the ECU is in the how-to's THT has a post on it, its on the 2nd or 3rd page. it requires an offset screwdriver.

So a new ecu has to be programmed by the dealership, anybody know how much they charge?

No if you pull one from a maxima just get the same year and model and transmission and you will be fine. you dont have to take it in to be programmed..

Not sure why he should need an ecu without checking out the damage on the current one. I plan on taking mine out ('95), to see why I can't pull codes because the screw doesn't seem to do anything. I read somewhere that the screw is connected to a potentiometer, so there is a possibility of repairing the screw and or the potentiometer.
