MEVI or JWT ECU

what should i get first guys?

i have intake, ypipe, catback and dont know what my next performance mod should be.

already taken care of rims and suspension, what should i go after next.

MEVI or JWT ECU?

I plan to get both of them, but want to get one first before the other since i dont have all the money for both right now. there may be a 6 month interval between each of them, so i want to get the one that will help most first.

couldn't find too much info. on the power increase of MEVI Alone and JWT ECU alone. so im asking you guys that know more about them.

Thanx guys

I'm guessing you dont want to wait and get both because it seems like those 2 mods are best enjoyed with the other.

I would suggest Getting the MEVI first, you'll enjoy all that new power, but get cut off by the rev limiter, then when you get the ecu, with getter fuel maps, and limiter raised you should feel even more power and for more of the band.

my 2 pennies.

You should probably get the ECU first. That way you can take advantage of the ecu right away. You will definatly feel the gains.
The MEVI really wont do much with out the ECU.

Not if you go with the TS ecu. They now also have the raised rev limiter and they have a quick turn araound time. There is a GD on it right now.

Yeah I know. But why go with the JWT if all hes needing is the adjusted a/f ratios and raised rev limiter?
TS will do all that and is cheaper as well as quicker turn around time.
Now, im not sure if they have a FI setup so JWT may still be the ones to go to for that.

JWT is upgradeable and the TS isn't...if you ever plan on boosting your max the JWT is the wayt o go....I'm looking into the MEVI as we speak and haev similar ?s. I plan ont he JWT though so I can have the opportunity of upgrading if I choose to in the future. But don't get me wrong, TS is still a great upgrade but more is known of the JWT and what kind of products they make....experience has a stronger hold on what they do in my opinion...

Peter, go with the ECU. Then in the future, go with the either the 00VI, or the MEVI. I'd personally rather have the 00VI and an ECU.

Get the ECU first. If you ever plan on going Forced Induction (I mean you are really SERIOUS about doing this in the future) then get the JWT ecu. However, if you plan on STAYING naturally aspirated FOREVER with the maxima then go with TS ecu.

yep, ecu comes first. then do 00vi. it'll lose less low end torque than the mevi.

ECU first. I wish I would had gotten it first and a long time ago. It makes a much bigger difference in useable power than just the MEVI.

Why can't we get more serious about the 00VI over the MEVI?! From what I've read the 00VI is consistantly better in all aspects! I also heard the butterflies on the 00VI may sometimes stick....can that be remedied? Can a 'mass' order of 00VI be possible? I like torque way more than horsepower! You can feel TQ!

If you bought an ECU upgrade first, wouldn't this mean that you'd have to send in your ECU AGAIN after you bought a MEVI to get the correct A/F? And if this is true, you'd want to get the MEVI first...

By all means, though, correct me if I'm wrong.

You're correct SlackR237...People should buy them together so these situation don't occur....its totally up to you though, do you plan on having a MEVI/00VI or are you going ot leave the OEM intake manifold on....get the MEVI/00VI when you get the ECU upgrade...less work and less money=common sense!

interesting thought. Not sure.

I would say if you are into delayed gratification, go MEVI first ECU second. If you want power now, refinement/power on the highway second go ECU.

As for JWT vs new extended rev limiterTechnosquare, maybe we should start a comparision thread. Not sure if we have one yet or enough is know about TS to truly compare...yet.

You will not going to have to send back the ecu to JWT if you get the manifold first. I asked the tech on the phone if he needed to know my mods he said no unless it was something like FI or nos. So that means the upgraded ecu program is the same for mevi and oe.

yeah, the a/f ratio shouldnt change with the MEVI, the butterflies just stay open longer with the raised rev limiter allowing power to be built to an extended rpm redline.

I have to correct you ,you dont lose low end with the 00 vi. You gain, runners are longer than us manifold and the 60fts i get support that.
