Anti-Theft gone haywire on '95 Max
Anti-Theft gone haywire on '95 Max
I'm a Noob to the board, I've been driving a '95 Max since I drove it off the lot back in January 1995. I've been driving the wife's 2002 Max while she's out of town, planned on pulling mine in the garage and doing a 4-wheel brake job on it.
Went out today to pull it in, dead. Totally dead. As soon as I put the jumper cable on, boom, off went the anti-theft system, but not for a minute or two... wouldn't stop. I pulled the jumper cables, pulled the horn connectors from the alarm horn, reconnected the jumper cables, it kept going off (lights blinking, etc...) for a half hour. Grand.
I checked the technical bulletins and there was one about the door actuators causing false positives. I'm definitely going to check that out, but I'm wondering if there are any other sensors I should be looking for - I can pull and replace any mechanical part, but I've got a long history of problems diagnosing electrical faults. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
BTW, it is nice to sit in a 2002 and have it feel sluggish compared to my G4...

This sounds so familiar with my situation. You need to reset the alarm.
Step 1 Put the power cables back on ofcourse the alarm will go on.
Step 2 go over to the pasenger side door.
Step 3 Put your key in the keyhole and turn it once to the left and twice to the right or vice versa once to the right and twice to the left I forgot and that should reset it back to normal.
This happend to me I called Nissan this is what they told me and it worked.
