Well according to what it says in the title it should fit your car. Someone told me a once on here that circular shaped mufflers don't sound as good on Maxima's...like the oblong shaped kind sound better. I never verified if that was true or just a load of B.S. but that's just something I saw someone say.

If money is tight a universal muffler with a custom B-pipe will cost less (and quite possibly sound better). I like my dynomax superturbo with resonated b-pipe.

well lets see here...

the b-pipe connects your cat to your rear section(muffler with some piping)...

so if you get a custom resonated b-pipe and a custom made rear section with a muffler of your choosing then yes it will replace your whole exhaust system...

there is nothing wrong with doing this... and yes it will cost a lot less...

i 2nd the dynomax super turbo, very subtle yet demanding when on it, and practically no drone even after it is broken in...

the next cheapest is pre-made b-pipe with custom rear section...

then pre-made b-pipe w/ pre-made rear section (only to choose from a few depending on your year)

then full catback...

so they all give the same gains... some are made out of different materials... so its up to how much you want to pay...

note: get a resonated b-pipe, or you will regret it...

note: choose your muffler wisely... a straight through will sound like s***! in this case, the bigger the oval, the better...

im in the same boat looking for an exhaust. my muffler is starting to go otherwise i wouldnt even bother. the greddy sp2 looks great but $500 is a lotta cash for exhaust. i searched almost every thread i could find about the obx, and one post says the obx is a very similar sound compared to sp2 but has fitment issues, and others says anything that has a round muffler is crap for a max. i think the more ive read up on the two the less i know. overall it seems like a good system for the $$.

hey i have the obx-h on my car (check my cardomain for pics). i actually got the 97-99 one for about 260 shipped and put it on my 95. the fitment isn't perfect, but u can raise the tip w/ some hose clamps, and the b-pipe hangs a little low, but for all stainless steel and decent sound AND u can find it for about half the price of other exhausts, i feel like it's a good option for people who don't have a whole lot of cash (like me i'm a college student).

It will replace the b-pipe and muffler (thats what the OBX would replace too). It would leave the y-pipe (an aftermarket y-pipe is were the real gains are), and the cat.

I got the dynomax for about $50 from summit and paid $110 for the custom resonated b-pipe and muffler installation. I probably could have gotten it cheaper if I'd shopped around a little, but I was really sick of the broken exhaust. I'm happy.

Also don't forget that you may have to pay something for installation if you went the premade route. There's no way I would've gotten my old exhaust off.

dude i have the exact same problem, stock exhaust got all rusted out and i dont have the $500 for a cattman or frankencar. so i found a used OBX stainless catback. i figure even if its a bit loud how bad can it be, after all its not a 4 banger, its gotta sound decent...right? plus its stainless steel so at least it wount rust. still waiting to get it.

well, you just pick out a muffler... and take it an exhaust shop...

they will bolt the muffler on, and put a tip on it... and bend pipes that run from it to your cat...

id say all that for about $100 bucks or so, but id recommend a resonator so mabye $200...

just call around and see what they'd charge...
