Slipping Clutch...
Hi everyone,
I thought that my first to second gear shifts were bad due to getting used to a new, powerful V6. However, a couple weeks ago, I noticed when putting the accelerator deeper, my clutch was definately slipping in 3rd and 4th gear.
I know I'm in need of a new clutch, but are there specific parts of the clutch that need to be replaced, or the whole thing? What specific parts of a clutch cause slippage? How much for these parts/the whole new assembly? How many hours of labor should I expect to pay? Thanks in advance
Lou

as the disc wears thinner you loose pressure on it...without pressue the clutch can't transfer any torque. The disc and pressure plate both wear, as does the flywheel.
Most places sell clutch kits...the pressure plate, friction disc, throw-out bearing and alignment tool. Taking the flywheel off and having it faced is also a good idea while you are in there and might cost $40. You can get a kit off ebay reasonable

There are also a lot of upgrade options.
Assuming no other parts are bad along the way the job should cost around $500 (perhaps 6 hours plus parts) depending on the labor rate you have in your area.

i just replaced my clutch too.....i bought a stage 1 exedy from an online company for 300 with next day shipping.....since u are replacing ur clutch make sure u get ur flyweheel resurfaced and u might as well replace ur main seal.....mine was leaking but i couldnt replace it cuz it would take a week for the dealership to get that part in......so order it ahead of time and so u wont get stranded and not be able to replace it
