I bought my totaled car

'96 SE, I hit a deer 2 weeks ago and the ins company decided to total the car. The only major things wrong with the car is a messed up hood and radiator support. Well long story short I bought the car back from them for $260!!!
So I am parting out everything except the rolling chasis and running gear. Going to make it a NA strip car

I thought you weren't allowed to buy your car back just like that? I heard that the insurance compnay usually selll it to a salvage yard, only then can you try to buy it back.

not in my case. I was haggleing with my adjuster over the low dollar amount they were giving me for my car. I asked here was there any way I could purchase the salvage in order to try to recoop some of my money, and she said she would sell it to me for 10% of the claim. They are an out-of-state company. They would have to worry about getting it towed, getting it to auction, and all that runaround. I am sure this is much easier for them.

Are you going to list what you want to sell or have you done that already?

Not really. I totalled a pickup years ago, and the Insurance gave me the option to either pay me its full worth and pick the truck up, or pay me a partial and allow me to buy it back if I wished.

Is the car 5-speed or auto? If it's a 5-speed I want the shifter console trim piece, it's the same between 96 and 97, right?
