heated seat lights

I know that this sounds pickey, and I apoligize for it (but unfortunatley that is the way my parents raised me)....When I got my max, one of the lights on my heated seat buttons was burned out. I was able to pick up a new pair from a maxima.org member and install them and they worked for a little while. However, now one has already burned out again (after about a month, and I only used them a handful of times). Is this something that I just have to live with, or is it fixable?

Sincerely,

Wanting to live in perfection

Make them LED's and they'll never burn out again.

I haven't done it as I don't have leather in my car but several org members have. Give LED's a try.

1)a lil bit of work and some solder
2) Ebay, radioshack, the group deal section (use a resistor with them)
3) depends on the LED brightness
4) most likely not, there is a removable amber cover in there so you can make them any color.

If you have already been inside the switch it will be easy.

I haven't done it as I don't have leather but have done all of my other buttons, switches, etc. They will tend to be brighter and the color is up to the LED's you choose.

Here's the link for the group deal on LED's. I've ordered twice from here with no problems.

what do I solder the led to? I have worked with the switch before, and when you take off the light, there is the two prongs that stick up. Do you solder the light to those two things with a resistor connected to it? Also, what is the best color in your opinion to use?

I honestly don't know what the heated seat switches look like inside. I would imagine there is a bulb in there of some sort. Take the bulb out and solder the LED with resistor to the bulb's old contact points. Just make sure the positive (longer) lead of the LED goes to 12v and the other lead goes to ground. If it doesn't light up, then you have it backwards, no damage to the LED as long as you used a resistor. The resistor can go to either the positive or negative lead as long as it has one.

As far as color, that's up to you. I like the bright white effect I have in my car. I didn't do the gauges white as it was hard to do with LED's but may try hyperwhite regular glass bulbs or leave it red. I like it either way.
