I sprayed the top half of my OEM tails with testors clear enamel. Worked like a charm:

Did you spray the inside of the lense or the outside? Did the enamel cause the amber color to come off? Hmm...I'd just be worried about it messing up the red.

I taped off the red and sprayed the outside.

It can be done on 97-99 tail lights also, I made mine the first month I got my car. It took just about 8 coats as well. Just make sure you put enough coats to match up the reverse light if not it will look funny.

One last thing, did you need to put amber bulbs in, or was it still amber after you painted over it?

You need to use amber bulbs after.

Also, make sure you use testors. Krylon sucks and the original amber shows through. (dont ask me how I know)

I used the same testors clear enamel that Ben(mzmtg) used, not too many more coats(10) were needed because of my ultrablack paint, but I did use an amber bulb to sway from picking up tickets from

I have been flirting with some black light paint and replacing my tailights with blacklight. Does testors have some kind of phosphorus based paint?

First of all, you trash my idea like you are Mr. "I came up with painting my lights so I am God" j@ck@ss. You don't know me. I have been in this game for decades. This was my last project car and people STILL ask me about it even though I sold it two years ago.

I am an innovator. A creator of art. Remember when people joked about Alteezas being 'ricey'? Look at them now...BLOWING UP. WHY? Cause of OGs like ME who try new things and don't just follow the "let's make the car fast with a turbo" crowd. So you REALLY need to take a pill and CHILL dawg.

Bookshelf? What are you talking about? That is an 'aero' wing. I made it myself out of fiberglass. It took me three tries to get the mold exactly even on both sides. I could be dropped out of an airplane in that car and I PROMISE that the car would land on its wheels due to the circo-dynamic forces the wing creates. Are you another hater? Please....

Yeah testors clear enamel is the best thing you can do to your car.

Maybe if you spray the whole car it will become clear.

Alright, I found another link that works on my computer at least...

http://www.a2zhobbies.com/Testors/FS_Enamel/

Now, for people who have done this before, which paint did you use? (just give the item number, like "Item # TES-xxxx")

Yeah. The phone number is 1-800-386-2277.

It's one of those numbers that spell something, but I thought this would make things easier for you.

Alright, thanks guys, I'll give that a shot

As a backup, though, could someone help me out with the item number in the link on post #76? It'll probably help me to sound like I know what I'm talking about, like I'll know exactly what I want instead of telling Mike I "want testors that will make my taillights will look cool."
