catback exhaust DISASTER!

So I had this custom exhaust shop in Boston install an Apexi WS catback on my 99 max about a year ago. Everything seemed alright since then until recently I failed my inspection due to emissions so I took my car to the dealership to have it checked out. Turns out the people who installed my catback cut off (as in literally chopped off) my stock exhaust, welded the Apexi directly to the catalytic converter, and threw away all the hangers (so the exhaust has just been hanging from nothing for a year). Dealership says catalytic converter is most likely destroyed. This was NOT supposed to happen this way right??

No; they should have used the flanges and bolted the catback to the cat.

DEFINITELY wrong. Go back to the place who put it on and drive your car thru their front door.

Sorry for your bad luck. I wish you luck with getting the shop to warranty their work. Next time if you have someone work on your car, make sure you inspect their work before driving away.

What the hell?

Sounds like Homer Simpson installed your exhaust.

Whats wrong w/homer simpson? LoL

warranty applies to the fact that their service deteriorates overtime, or if it falls apart. They didnt do it correctly off the start, so he can take it back

WTF?
Its a complete bolt on exhaust. Why would they even consider welding it on when there is flanges to bolt to.
Lazy B@stards!!!
Im surprised you never heard it banging around underneath. I have an Apexi WS it used to bang the under carriage untill I ghetofied my hangers
You couldnt see it hanging low from a side view?

i think the hanger at the end by the muffler was on so it wasn't hanging too low - the hanger in the middle by the midpipe was nowhere to be found -

anybody know where i can get some extra rubber hangers??

Muffler shops will have them laying around

Some auto parts stores may have them if they sell exhaust parts.

Are you looking for the rubber hangers or the actual metal posts that hte rubber goes onto?
Rubber hangers can be purchased at any parts store but dealer items fit best.
If your looking for the metal rods, their going to have to go to a muffler shop and have them welded in place.

I guess they couldn't figure out how to put a 95-96 exhaust on a 97-99 car.
