Y-pipe or Springs
my rule of thumb
safety before speed. Have your car be able to handle the power before you start adding it. This way when you get into trouble, you can get out of it. It is better to have a better handling car than to have a faster one. just my .02
It depends on your other mods... To get the full effect of the y-pipe, you will need a high flow intake along with with the cat and catback exhaust. With the springs, you will want to get shocks also. If you have no other perfomance parts to compliment the Y-pipe, I would go with the Sprint($119 + shipping) and Tokicos($300 + shipping)setup. For under $500 you will have some awesome handling + better looks.
i think you should lower the car first. you get performance and good looks in one package. thats what i am doing. i figure our cars are already pretty quick so the the y can wait. by the way, make sure you have good tires first before anything other upgrade.
I agree with everyone on this one go for handling because that way you can enjoy the power of the car more, I lowered mine and got a FSTB, I also have the RSB, I am ordering the y-pipe tomorrow actually cause I have some handling setup already, but I still need to get struts and a RSTB.
I don't think you need the RSTB
But if you are dying for one, I might sell mine. When I lowered my car, I think I stripped the threads to the strut mounts. The nuts won't come off, so I can't re-install my rear strut bar. It really doesn't do too much, but it looked cool with my matching chrome amp.

How much you want for you RSTB? What kind is it?
Thanks for the input. I am thinking about waiting to change the suspension. Why?, KYB (from previous) posts should have the AGX Struts out by end of summer. Anyone know if this is really going to happen?

Well, it is all up to you. If you want the power, than go for the y-pipe. However, if you want looks, then get the lowering springs. There is no danger in getting a y-pipe and having to worry about safety. It is just a y-pipe that frees up some HP. The Maximas stock springs and struts are two times more capable of handling the extra power than most other cars out there. Now, putting lowering springs on stock struts is a concern. You WILL cut the life of your stock struts at least 3-fold. So, if you get the springs, wait until you have the money to get better struts, this will also descrease labor costs. But, as said before, to actually see the full effects of the y-pipe you need a better intake of some sort (ei. CAI, Stillen, etc.). Good luck
