Testing Coils

I have tested all 3 of the left side coils following the directions in the Haynes Manual. I get the exact same results on all 3 coils. According to Haynes I'm suppose to connect the positive (+) probe of an ohmmeter to terminal #1 and the negative (-) probe to terminal #2. The book says the meter should indicate infinite resistance. I get 2000 on the meter for all 3. Then the book says reverse the probes and the meter should indicate continuity but not 0. The needle does not even move when I do this. Again, on all 3 coils. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I'm testing them because I have the following errors

P1320 - Manfacurer Control Ignition System or Misfire
P0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected

Any help is appreciated. I really don't want to take this to a dealer.

okay there is another way of checking which i am in the proccess of doing what you do is remove all the screws from the coils and get an old spark plug okay unplug one coil put the old spark plug in the coil and put the spark plug near any metal and you should see a bright blue spark if not then that is the bad coil what else can happen is your getting a spark then stop that means it is intermmiten <----(not sure of the spelling) and the coil is bad so you are looking for a spark which is continuing hope that helps.

Your wasting your time trying to test coils with an ohm meter. I have 6 coils which I tested, hot, cold, warm... all 6 will test perfectly, within specs. Place them in the car and they will start to misfire on occasions. If your car is a 99 with misfire problems, I'd suggest replacing all 6. If your car is another year, I would switch the coil pak with the cylinder next to it. If you get a new error for that cylinder, then you know the coil pak is bad.
