Fixed my stalling problem and squeaking spring
A few weeks ago, my car would occasionally stall when I came to a stop. It also had an occasional lack of acceleration. The sensation was like stepping on the brakes while pressing down on the accelerator. Well, I thought I had fixed it after cleaning the throttle body and adjusting the idle, but after a week, the symptoms returned. Fortunately, the check engine light came on, so after checking the codes (0908 and 0103) I went and picked up a replacement ECTS (Engine coolant temperature sensor) After checking the forums, I went ahead and replaced the part, but not before scratching my head over where the part was located. I've got the Chilton's manual, which wasn't any help. Turns out that all I had to do was remove the stock air 'tube' that's attached near the front. Then I followed the large hose (which was hidden by the air 'tube') from the radiator until I found the sensor. Man, that thing was seriously corroded. I ended up snapping it in half using just my hands. Anyways, car's been running really well ever since. (I didn't bother posting until I was sure that the problem was fixed)
As to the squeaking spring, I found that the bottom end of the spring was just slightly off. It should have been resting on the end part of the strut perch. So I compressed the spring and turned the spring slightly, then uncompressed it. And whaddya know, the noise is gone, and for some reason, the car feels really tight now.
