Nissan ECUs more sensitive re: CELs??
Are Nissan and Maxima ECU/ check engine lights designed to set codes more than other brand cars?
there are a lot of posts on these forums about ECU problems - my max has set codes twice but my other brand japanese cars -5 of them over the years never have.
Did the engineers set them up on the nissans to be too sensitive?
Opinions?????

Is your car stock or is it modded? I'm not sure about stock because my car never threw a light stock. But since modded, my car actually hasn't thrown that many CEL's. If anything, it's better than most Hondas when they're modded. My wife's turbo Integra throws more codes than my car does.

I think some nissan car cels are more sensitve. My Moms 97.5 Pathfinder tripped a cel because she overfilled the gas a little, you know when it clicks and stopes, she did it one more time (just to try and round up to the nearest dollar) and that tripped a cel.
My car is stock, but thrown codes, I'd much rather have codes thrown so I know whats wrong rather then them remain hidden over time and it all come crashing down one day.

yeah i think it is designed better not a that it is more sensative for instance integras dont have mafs dont have as many sensors as our cars as for as oxygen sensors etc and so fourth when i had one go i had no idea until i went to emmisions car ran fine. that is why i think nissan did a bang up job on design there system as opposed to honda and other manufactures then again it could still use improvement dont get me wrong.
