y-pipe durability

I have been thinking of putting a Budget (now LSS) stainless steel y-pipe in for a while now. I think the only concerns I have that are preventing me from buying it is whether it will cause me problems down the road. That is, will it start rusting because of an aluminized flex section, or leaking down the road because of tiny fitment imperfections? as an aside, does anyone know what the flex section is made of in the stock y-pipe? also, as the new y-pipe ages, will it start getting loud and crappy sounding? I am not big into modding. i like my car to be stock with just a few minor enhancements, but not at the expense of the car's quality. Please respond if you have any experiences with the y-pipe in these regards. Thanks

I have heard the budget Y-pipe is an excellent choice, but if your more into the quality of the pipe then go for cattman hands down. It is more expensive but the fitment is the best. Aluminized flex section is not necessarily bad, our stock exhaust is aluminized and the only thing that rusted on my car is the muffler. It all depends on how long you want to keep your car, if you want to keep it until it croakes then fine get a SS, if not then get aluminized and save some money. As far as your other questions i cannot help you, i just put my Y on a couple days ago so I am not sure how it will work out in the long run. Hope i helped you some and good luck on your buy. Oh yea one more thing, stay away from warpspeed they are having problems with their fitment and their customer service sucks.

Ask the guys in the Canada forum or at www.torontomaxima.com for their opinions. I've had mine on for a couple of years now with no problems but I know some of the guys over there would have had it on longer than me. T.O. uses alot of salt!

Thanks guys, you were really helpful. If the y-pipes don't really cause any decrease in sound quality or durability, I think i'm going to go ahead and buy one. My only dilemma is whether to get the Cattman over the Budget for better fitment. Thanks again!

For the last time, no bees with the Budget. Fits great.

I checked out the torontomaxima.com forum, and there is a lot of mention about a company called Brullen. They supposedly make an even higher quality y-pipe for maximas than Budget. Anyone familiar with Brullen?
