Hood Struts for CF hood.

Are there any Lighter "duty"(I guess) hood struts that can be used with a carbon fiber hood, or is just the latch enough? I'd really like to stay away from hood pins, I just want to keep it as clean as possible.
Thanks.

Thanks.

Hood struts have nothing to do with holding the hood down, they are used to support the weight of the hood when its raised.
I wouldnt rely on just the latch neither. Maybe if the underskeleton were a more solid, durable material other then FG. With the underside being FG it doesnt take much for the latch assembly to be pulled away from the hood.
It looks cleaner with no pins, but its more durable with them.
I drove my car with no pins for 2 days. At speeds of 55-60 the hood would move up and down quite a bit. Enough for me to slow down to about 45-50.
Now with the pins, at speeds of 60-80 I get little to now movement.

You will have to either make a custom prop or use a ghetto item to hold the hood up. I use a long thin piece of allthread.
The hood struts are to strong for a cf hood. They are intended to support the weight of the OEM hood, they provide too much resistance for the CF hood and will most likely crack hte hood if you try and force it shut with the OEM hood struts.

Funny...I just read what I posted and I mashed 2 seperate ideas into one. Oops. My question got answered anyway. Thanks.
I just hate the idea of possibly messing up something so pretty...and something I just paid 400+ dollars for.
