Build a auto tranny, or swap and build 2k1 LSD

I'm going to go FI by this summer, and my current tranny automatic.. has 130K miles on it, now I can build it. Things like cyro treated parts, stage III VB (I currently have stage II), high stall TQ Conv., and I guess that's it like a Level 10 basically. Or I can get a LSD 2k1 AE tranny, and possibly build that. My goal is to have a tranny that will withstand atleast 500HP and be VERY reliable. I'm not going to go to the track every week, so it's not like I'm going to beat the crap out of it. But I would like some input, and appreciate all comments. Also... do people change their axles, and or suspension components?

If you're gouing to make 500 WHP, or even 500 crank HP, the engine itself will suffer reliability issues, not jsut the tranny. And that auto you mentioned will be awful with a too high of a TCfor an everyday driver which seems what you're aiming at.
Don't do this to your everyday driver.

Why would a high Torque Convertor be bad?

What are you talking about, with boost you do not loose boost in between shifts as you do with a manual tranny, you can build a auto to shift FASTER than you can MANUALLY shift any car, and you build boost in between shifts, and it's VERY VERY hard to launch a FWD car that has a manual tranny at 5000RPMS which is where you would build boost with a turbo...

If you have too high of a stall TC, in parking lots trying to park, or in any semi-tight situations, your car will lurch foward and you might end up hitting something, I've seen it.

The AE trannies are much stonger than the 4th gens to begin with. If you break that you really are making a lot of power(Unless you beat on it). LSD Autos do exist and I'd imagine the diff could be swapped in but this only makes sense for a full drag car. A 5Spd will dominate in every other area including highway.

Built auto could easily be faster than manual with turbo. But for daily driver drivability and fun the bullet proof AE would be better.

I have heard horror stories about Raxles. Seems like nothing currently in production is stronger than stock.

Several on the .org have had trouble with their stuff. They snapped Raxles axles and OEM axles like they were exactly the same. Seems like axles for the Maxima really can't be improved much.

Check out this thread. Requin had two brand new Raxles on his car when they snapped.

Sadler really hates Raxles. He has gone through two of them. Check post #14.

^Direct quote. If you want beefy axles don't just order the ones they have on their site.

I'd just like to point out that Requin snapped it on street tires. Hmm...

I can't believe I didn't mention this earlier. I have the Auto out of my car that I'll sell to you for extremely cheap. It worked well when I took it out. If your going to build it up that doesn't matter anyway. It was driven hard but it hasn't complained. I have all auto parts for sale. Check the sig.
