Big problem, You guys ever hear of this?

Well I finaly got my car back after a month of being at my mechanic. Here's the deal. I hoped in my car on my lunch break. Warmed it up for about 90 seconds, and took off. I drive for maybe 40 ft and see my oil light flicker. So i turn of to check oil and bam it comes full on and my motor starts ticking like hell. NO oil pressure. That's what idiot lights are for. Instant it come on i kill the motor. Take it to mechanic. Really reputable good guy. Tears in say's oil pump shatterd into peices!!! And you have to take timing chain off to get to it. So i let him keep the car till i raise enough cash for, new timing chain, tensioner, slider, water pump and oil pump. Glad to get chain fixed any way cause my tensioner was garbage. Any body else ever have this problem?? I saw the oil pump {I think}. It was a gear looking thing. That was in like 8 peices. My car runs beautiful now bye the way. Thanks org.

Bump and it cost me around 500 cause I work off some of the debt to my mechanic by installing car stereo's in his and his family's car's since he doesn't have time to. Any body ever hear of oil pumps just exploding?
