Anyone forsee any real problems with running a VQ35DE on VQ30DE engine wiring and ECU? I don't think the extra .5L will make much difference but I can add fuel pressure or an AFC for some fine tuning if necessary.

Its a totally different engine not just .5L more...its different injectors, different o2 sensors, different cam sensors, differnet everything

best you can do is what tilley did with his girlfriends car. Droped the 3.5L bottom end in with the 3.0L heads. Tilley managed to put down 226whp? with cams, headers, etc etc.

Well, I have access to the wiring and computer from the 3.5L but I was trying to avoid the pass key security system by just using the wiring off of the 3.0. Any suggestions short of swapping heads? Has this swap been done?

A full swap has been done (3.5 ecu and wiring harness) by vsamalov (I can never remember the name, but it's something like that). As said above tilley did a 3.5/3.0 hybrid in his girlfriends car. He'll sell you a ready to be installed one for a little over a grand. He has plans to do what you want to do. There's a thread in the all motor forum.

 

The chipped key system is not connected to ECU. Would not be a problem. I think someone has used the 3.5 heads with 3.0 sensors but not sure.
