DTM or Tinted Tails?

I have a black Maxima and want either the Dallas Taillight Mod or the Tinted Tails. My preference is the Tinted one but I'm not sure if the visibility of the light will be affected too much. Any opinions?

Did you paint the inside or outside of the light, and with what kind of paint?

go with the DTM since you can see the light. If you do choose to tint them, only do a light coat similat to Saab or VW. Black tint looks ricey

Do the DTM. It looks much better. Paint the inside of the tails with tint spray. 2-4 coats make it look real nice.

the 97+ lights look so much better than our 96/96. I would put those in. Correct me if im wrong but you only have to change the rear bumper to install these right

For the outers to fit you only have to change the tail lights. For the inners to fit you need to change the trunk. And for the bottom of the trunk lid to match the part of the bumper underneath the taillights you'll want to change the bumper.

If you are to do it and feel comfortable opening up your tails, I'd do it on the inside.

tha'ts not dtm, that's just blacking out/tinting your tails on the outside. dtm is when you paint the housing (the inside behind the lense) black.

DTM can be done to 95/96 but you need the clears to do it.

Heres a great shot of my car

for people who dont know, DTM lights are stock with the inner light defusers removed and the inside housing painted black.

One day lol... I'm painting my sawblades this weekend when I get rid of my 17's, they're for sale. and I also have to change my rear valve cover, alternator, motor mounts, knock sensor and change my oil... lets see how much of that I can do this weekend.

For your 96 I'd do exactly what was done above and paint the orange black, that looks awesome.

Those are my 17's for sale...

I'm actually having someone do a project for me with my tail lights.. I'll be having LED's soon

So I might have that person tint them for me.

Only thing is I have to cute a hole in the new lights to put my strobes in again.. Laziness owns me..

Whats the closest thing you could do to the stock 95 tails to make them look like the DTM mod?

Because of the amber they'll never look DTM. So really the only thing you can do is lay on a lot of layers or "red-out" the top which also looks pretty good.

get some spray tint and shade the top 1/2. Dont go to dark, 2-3 coats is fine. IMO the darker the worse.
