aftermarket gauges
Why would you need to replace the gauges we already have? I'm not critisizing, just curious. I understand getting guages that don't come with the car, but what's wrong with our spedo, tach etc.?
Replacing them is something different ...
At any rate, you can get nice gauge kits from autometer - or mix and match gauges from them. I believe Defi might have something similar, but I'm not sure if they make speedometer and fuel gauges.
I did this same thing in another car that I had with the autometer gauges. I just fabricated a custom bezel and mounting bracket so it would fit in the stock location. After that, I carefully removed the stock warning lights and wired up a harness for them to still work in the custom bezel. After that, I just hooked everything up into the stock dash wiring and viola, new gauges
It'll take a lot of time, patience and wiring diagrams. I'd highly recommend getting a gauge cluster from another maxima to bastardize, it'll help a lot.
