Can you add a sub to the Bose system? I know that there is no power coming from the head unit, but how difficult/feasible would it be to add an amp and a sub the system.

Thanks for any info.

It's easy to do. There is an adapter that you need to get. Any stereo shop can fix you up.

I have the stock BOSE cd/tape/am-fm head unit in my 97 GLE and I have added an XTant 1001D amp with 3 12" JL Audio subs. The guy who installed it for me took the signal from the rear left speaker before its amp and sent it to the XTant. Everything else (power, ground, etc.) was done as you normallly would for a regular system. Damn, that thing is loud! When I upgrade from my BOSE unit to the new head unit, I'll have to change all the speakers as well becasue I heard they won't work because of the ohm load (I think). I also want to add some sort of mp3 capability because shuffling for CD's is starting to **** me off a little.

Hope that helped somewhat.

Check this out on how you can add and mix and match to your BOSE (especially with the PD-4 interface);

www.linkmeup.com

Also look at Steve Cutchen's MaxFAQs here, look in the electrical section, under audio;

Let me know what you came up with and keep me updated. I wanted to do the same on my 99 MAX! Much appreciated if you can included some prices of the parts you found. Thanks!
