Iridium Spark Plugs?

Anybody know how good these Iridium spark plugs are? They're like double the price.

I'm going to change my plugs and I'm wondering which brand to use. I know we need platinums, but there are some for like 1.99 and some for 5.99, then there's these Iridiums for like 12.99.. Are they worth it?

Japanese cars require japanese plugs. Don't waste your time and money on anything else. Iridium's and Platinum's last longer than copper, hence the price difference.

Whats the benefit of copper plugs on an NA car without no2? I thought copper plugs ran colder and slowed down ignition timing slightly.... why would u want that? I hear FI people using them but i never heard they were any good for NA. I don't really know so i'm asking not criticizing?

That's not accurate. Copper is a better conductor than platinum is, platinum lasts longer though and is more expensive, hence why the plugs cost more. You can get Platinum and Copper plugs in all the standard heat ranges, 5 is standard for our cars. 6 or 7 for use with nitrous or forced induction, these are known as "colder" heat ranges.

There has been some talk that Iridium spark plugs are good for high output forced induction cars having spark blowout problems like mine is, so I'm going to try a set at the advice of MardiGrasMax, he is using them and said they cured any spark problems he was having. But for regular bolt ons or mild forced induction cars I'd stick with copper unless spark problems become evident (and you will surely know if you are having spark problems).

any engine that was designed to work with NGK plugs from the factory won't run right on anything but NGK. This could be a weed whacker, motorcycle...whatever. Stick with NGK.

bkr5eGP - poor mans platinums are about $3.50 and last 35-40,000 just like iridiums. Coppers will last 30K. Laser plats last 60-70K. $'s/mile coppers are the best price by far

I have had Iridius in my car for over two yours and I love them. I bought them against all the advice of the org members at that time. They are performing flawlessly after 15,000 miles and yes I would buy them again even though they are way too expensive.

I have read that most japanese cars run plugs with the internal setup unlike american and german cars that use the exterior ones. I think its the platnum or something like that thats internal or external. Ive used them in the fords and they are great tried it on my old max and they suck.
