Sorry for the novice question...but I am an ex-owner of a 1989 Max GXE (9 years)...currently have a 96SE 5spd.

I keep hearing reference to VQ & VE engines...

Can someone elaborate on what the difference is and when they were used? ie model years...


Sorry for the ignorant question...search yielded no clear answer to this question...

All 89-91 have VG 160hp SOHC
92-94 GXE have VG 160hp SOHC
92-94 SE have VE 190hp DOHC

4th gen 95-99 have VQ, you know the rest
