Will all oil drain out if I remove oil filter?
I'm running mobil1 synthetic and am going to do the oil for 15,000 miles with an oil filter swap at 7500 miles. Do I need to drain out all the oil before I remove the oil filter or can I just replace the oil filter without draining and just top off the lost oil? If just a little will drain out, how much? I'm hoping it's less than a quart.

killcrap changing your oil with out changing the filter is like taking a shower and putting on the dirty underwear back on.
Colossus When you take off the oil filter, you'll lose about 1 quart of oil along with it. You can then top off your Mobil1 with any type of oil.

Something new "15,000 miles", wow!
I'm changing my oil every 5,000 miles with synthetic oil. I will consider that option on my next oil change. Maybe 10,000 miles before I go ahead with 15,000 miles.

That is new news to me, I can remember when Mobil 1 1st came out and you weren't suppose to mix it with other oils. I have been out of the car scene for quite some so either things have changed or i'm losing mt mind...either way sorry for the mis-information.
Btw Synthetic is a "man-made" oil , regular oil is from crude so there is a difference between the 2...that i know.

He's doing it the other way around...changing the filter without changing the oil
I don't think you'll lose quite a quart, but you should have some kind of pan ready. Measure it when you're done and let us know, but I'm guessing you'll lose less than 1/2 quart.

then it will be like changing your underwear without taking a shower

you will lose less than 1/2 a quart. I did this attempting to take some oil out of the motor to get it to the full mark. I took my blower off for rebuild and did not need the extra oil that I always put in to accomidate for blower and oil lines.

I'm all for spending money if it's going to save life on my engine but that doesn't mean I'm going to burn money when there's no gain.

ok i shouldnt have said normal then, yes its a gimmick i dont follow that i just wait til i dont like the color of my oil anymore before changing it. last time waited 10K i was just saying in genral, so no i havent been trained to think that. its pretty obvious that if youre oils not looking rough you dont need to change it.

I use sythetic and change it 3-4500 miles. I change my tires when they are baby *** bald! Im talking dry road/poor traction bald. Little bit of rain hydroplane bald. When you are running extra power more heat is created which breaks down the oil making it a good idea to change oil more often. Yes I have heard of carrott juice or amsoil. Never tried it but I always hear good things. I like my mobil 1. $20 for 5 qts is a good deal to me.

Now all the long interval haters can read some real world test results.

Mobil 1 currently enjoys the distinction of being the only readily available true PAO synthetic motor oil. You can get the stuff at Wal-Mart for Pete's sake! Perhaps because of its wide availability and comparatively low price, we entered this test with both hope and skepticism: hope that it would do well and vindicate millions of M1 users, and skepticism that it would pull it off. We were expecting it to look pretty beat up by 8,000 miles or so; to say we missed the mark would be polite understatement. Mobil 1 really delivered: 18,000 miles later, it was showing its age but was still hard at work protecting the engine.

don't worry, nobody bothered to read it when I posted it, i'm sure they'll keep that trend up and keep changing at 3k, or going by color to determine how good it is..

I don't want scientific theory, what would convince me is some real-world proof. An engine (without rebuild) with 300k, maybe 250k miles with 15k mile oil changes. Real-world, published, proof.
