Auto Climate Controls Back-lit?

I've got a 97 SE with auto climate control. A while back I pulled the center console out to install a CD changer. I thought I put everything back correctly, but recently I've noticed that I can't see the auto climate controls (the temp up/down, auto button, etc.) at night.

I'm pretty sure these are supposed to be back-lit like the other dash controls, but just wanted to double-check before I go to the trouble of tearing out the center console again. These controls are supposed to be back-lit, right??

Thanks...

yes, they should all light up. There are 4 bulbs back there that can be replaced for about $3.50 a piece from jerry rome nissan... or $9.00 a piece from my local dealer. They're simple plug n play.

or just do led. it is cheaper and lasts longer. It just take awhile to do it if you have never done it before.

Yeah, I think here in Atlanta they charge you an extra 4.50 to get off their chair and walk to the light bulb bin.

It'd be the same write-up as taking out the center console. You can see the bulbs from behind once it's out.
I heard 95/96 may be different... bulbs are soldered or something. I may be wrong though. 97 to 99 are definately just a simple replacement.

Thanks for the replies, now a follow up question. I pulled the center console this afternoon and checked all the connections. Nothing appears to be loose, but the climate controls still don't light up. Seems hard to believe that all four bulbs went at the same time. If one bulb goes does it take them all out?

I thought exactly the same thing... But it happened to me. All four blew at exactly the same time. I even tested each of them with with volt-meter.

Stranger than fiction, but all four bulbs were indeed bad (I checked them with a meter). I didn't want to mess with the LED conversion. Had to call just about every dealer in town and visit two to get a total of four bulbs. They cost me between 4 & 8 bucks each. Part # is 28529-0P000, but don't bother looking for any in the Atlanta area, I'm pretty sure I got the last four.

Controls light up perfectly now! Thanks for the advice.....
