Anyone with cold start info from shop manual?

I would like to confirm that the cold start idle process is working properly in my car, so I'm wondering if anyone has the factory shop manual online or could email me the procedure from some other manual for diagnosing and adjusting the cold start idle process?

It seems the colder it gets the higher my idle is in the morning. I know this is appropriate to some extent, but now that it is down in the 20s and 30s, I've noticed that the car will idle around 1700-1800rpm for a couple seconds and then come down to 1500rpm. This seems a little high, and I want to make sure the cold start idle process is adjusted properly. I remember someone saying this procedure is outlined in the Haynes manual, but I have checked all the big-name auto parts stores and Barnes and Noble, and haven't seen the Haynes (or Chiltons) manual for sale anywhere.

Thanks,

Greg

Mine does the same thing. Goes up to 2000 for a few secs then creeps down to 1500 for 20secs or so, then slowly starts to go down to normal idle speed. I'm in Canada and nights have been around 0 degrees lately (-15 celcius). It's normal.

I don't know what the "correct" process is, but that is what my car does. It goes to normal as soon as the car is warmed up.

The correct process is to depress the gas pedal 1/3 of the way to the floor while turning the engine. Let go of gas as soon as engine turns on. As outlined in Service Bulletin

Thanks for the responses guys. Its nice to know that everyone else's car does this too, so I guess I won't worry about it. I've never had a car that idled quite so high in the cold weather, and this is my first winter with my Maxima.

Kehops> do have a link to this service bulletin? I actually don't have a problem starting the car, just that the high idle is a little startling. It starts right up without using the gas pedal.

Thanks,

Greg
