Illumina Adjustments

How many of you guys actually adjust your illuminas? I leave mine on 5 hardest all the time.

What about you?

I adjusted mine continously for the first month I had them. Since then, I changed the rears from 4 to 3 and the fronts from 3 to 2 because of the cold weather.

I'm a stiffy at 5/5 all the time so far.. I don't really mind the solid ride. I tried 2/2 for a couple days a little while ago, but I went back to the stuffness.

On long highway trips sometimes I go full soft for that caddy like ride.
Normal every day driving I'm set at 3f/2r.
2f/2r is a nice smooth ride too.
I'm running H&R springs.

Why are you guys changing your settings for winter? Is it more stressful on the shocks?

I actually wish my shocks were even stiffer. When I had them installed, I thought they were on three, but to my surprise, they were already on 5!

You and me both, I wish my rear Konis had more compression dampening, rebound is set perfectly, but compression could use a higher setting. Fronts are perfect. I'm set at full stiff on Eibachs.

I've settled on 2/2 with H&R springs. I ran 1/2 for a while and I lost control of the front end. Too vague of a feeling! Everything changes the way the car feels on that setting. Even a full tank of gas.
I think soft in the winter and stiffer in the summer is the ticket.

In winter the shocks+struts become stiffer when the fluid inside them gets cold and doesn't flow as easily. So to get equivalent stiffness, you can dial the setting down a notch. Plus it's nice to have a little softer ride for when the roads are rougher with snow and ice.

It is pretty easy. Once you have done it a time or two, you can probably do it in five minutes or less for all four. You really don't have to adjust them very often once you find a setting you like, either. Just the seasonal thing.

Man,
How did you do that? Takes me 5 minutes to get the liner out of the trunk and them 5 minutes to do all 4 struts.

You don't have to actually remove the trunk liner, you can just peel it back from each side over the wheel well. That way, the main part of the liner stays in place.

i used to adjust them a lot when i first got them, but then i had to put my trunk back together and my system back in. now i dont, even though i want to adjust the backs i am just too lazy to unhook my system and all that. right now i am at 2/3, and its not bad but i want to try 2/4 and 3/4 and eliminate a little bit of the bounce in the back of the car.

5/5 all the time. The roads I travel on aren't too bad. And if it is bad, I'm scared of bottoming out so I slow down anyways. Oh yeah, I'm on Sprints.

I run 2/3 and leave it at that. Good combination of performance and comfort.

3f/4r here! That set up really helps out with the horrible stock understeer.

I don't know how some of you guys can take 5/5, it is stiff as hell!!
