question about painting body parts

well i finally am getting my body parts for my car accident and i have a few questions. i need to get the parts painted obviously but i can install all of the body parts myself. this alone saves me alot of money since the body shop wanted to charge me 8 hours to install the parts.

i took off the dammaged parts myself and i see how to install it and it shouldnt be a problem, i just wanted to know would it be better to have the parts painted before having them installed or should i install it then get it painted. it seems easier to just have it painted before installing that way i cut the risk of overspray and they can do a better job on getting the paint onto the lil cracks and crevices. then again i dont know if they can match the color correctly if its not on the car. well jus let me know what you think.

p.s the parts i need painted are the drivers side fender, a 97 front bumper, hood, and possibly my 97 trunk. any idea how much it should cost

btw....anyone know how to remove pinstripes, i remember it was in the stickies but i cant find it anymore.

thanx a million guys.
please respond

Let them paint the parts off the car.. give them your gas-cap door so they can match colors. Install them yourself... that's your best bet, you will probably pay $500 to paint all that.

I was under the impression you would buy aftermarket body parts such as the ones on eBay, which come primered. If you need prep work done to already-painted parts, it's going to be another $200-$300 probably.

oh damn lol, 200-300 thats not chump change, im gettin this stuff mainly cause i need the bumper and fender but my side objective was to get the stillen lip for this 97 bumper sooner or later. will there be major fittiment issues with the aftermarket bumper and stillen kit.

Put the parts on first to test fit, you dont want any surprises with painted parts. I made the same mistake with my old skyline front lip.

thanx for bringing that up, i thought about that too....it would be a waste to spend 500 bux painting everything and it didnt line up correctly. there is no frame dammage but something could be a lil off.

do u by any chance know if those aftermarket ebay bumpers will take a stillen lip with lil to no problems.

hmm it should, i mean if it doesnt you got to try to fit it on there somehow because no way is the stillen one going to be a off.
