Need good ground point for jumpstart

Quick question. My battery is dead, and I need to jump it. I have a portable jumpstart battery. Can anybody recomend a good ground point in the engine bay? Being that everything is painted, I didn't want to ground to the engine itself. Suggestions? The jumper isn't designed to grounded at the battery, and will give an alarm if it is.

Use the positive and negative terminals on the battery.
Never heard of a jump box not being able to ground at the battery. That doesn't make sense, ground is ground no matter where you put the leads from your jump box.

If that doesn't work, you could use the frame rails where the fender meets the engine bay. Or the front support bar that is right in front of the battery. They're painted on top but raw underneath I believe, just be careful not to scratch the paint.

Its true, there really is no good ground point in the engine bay for a jump start. I jumped a car back in the day and i dont remember where I connected the ground. I may have weaseled the clamp under the radiator hose and connected it to the block or head. I guess I dont have a good place at all .

When you hook up the 2nd connection it can spark. If you have a leaky battery it could ignite. Thats the only reason you arent supposed to use both terminals on the battery. Thats wierd that it has some type of alarm on it. It must be there for some reason.

Well the alarm is there so make sure you don't connect it backwards and dama both the battery and the jumper. I will try a panel or just a nut on the block. Thanks.
