Don't you have a spare key?

BTW, leaving it running is not the right way to warm it up.

In NY, leave it running and locked, they'll smash out a window and just drive off.

Just get a car starter.

My car automatically locks it door when the car is idle. I might need to get some stuff from the trunk and I close my door and the car locks itself. Is this normal?

Security feature in our cars won't allow this.

If I start my car and get out and lock the door with a spare key the door will stay locked.

....lol, well if it is then cops really dont abide by that sh*t. In the 19 years of my life, from my parents, friends and myself doin this no cop has ever brought that to our attention, nor ticketed us for it.

It is illegal but it's not really enforced.... BUT if your car gets stolen while it's running without you in it, good luck getting insurance to pay. All they'd need to hear is "keys were in it and it was running while I was (in the store, in my house, ran in daycare, etc)" and they're not covering your loss.

you might be better off with just getting an automatice starter you can pick one up from best buy for like 200 to 250 installed. i had both of maxima with remote starter and i love it def living in md and nc in the cold you can have the car start up periodically during the day so it will never get too cold and you always come to a warm car. just keep your heat and seats on at night when you get in it will be nice a toasty. plus if you worried bout car be stolen car will automatically shut off when someone presses the brake to shift.

If you open the door , and lock it with the door open and then start the car it will stay locked and when you come out you will have to open it with your key the remote will not open it

Remote start is great in that it'll warm up enough so that when you get in it's not bone chillingly cold.

If you happen to unlock the car, then go hang around without opening the door for 2 minutes, the car will lock itself automatically thinking that you happened to hit the unlock button on your remote accidentally ... other than that, you car will never lock itself automatically ... Simple test: After you get out of the car having driven or sthg, go away from the car without locking it ... it'll stay unlocked even after 24 hrs.

well if you have it start every now and then your car will always be warm and never get too cold def in the time when the weather is below freezing having the car warm saves you time when and you don't have to wait for it to be already warm plus when it snows you can have it start and with a warm car snow won't stick on it
