pass rear wheel locked up HELP!!!!!

ok so i was driving home from work when i hear this noise that sounds like hitting a big rock in my trunk. all of a sudden my pass rear wheel locks up on me. ive been sitting in the cold for an hour and a half trying to figure out why its like that?!?? so i look at it looks like somthing is sticking out of the caliper like a rusty metal piece the size of the brakepad. its stuck between the pad and the disc which obviously siezed up the pass rear wheel. so im getting it towed to my house tomorrow midday to try and fix it. no idea wtf it is sticking out of the caliper but it sucks a$$! here is a basic layout of what it looks like though the rim...

Sorry to hear of the trouble. I had the same sort of thing happen. Turns out that the rear brake pads had delaminated and cracked (undoubtedly due to overheating), and one of the cracked fragments of the friction material wedged into the caliper. I'd guess you're going to have to do a brake job back there - be prepared to buy a replacement caliper (usually less than $100 at the local parts stores if you return the core). In my case (upstate NY) the rear brake pads wore out faster than the front pads ...

yea its snowing like a biatch! up to 10" tonight so far we got like 6-7". and it was my brake pad that "delaminated" itself and of course lodged itself in the caliper. why would i need a new caliper? im just gonna get some new pads for all 4 then i guess and see what happens with it. but being like -1 i dont know if its gonna get done in the garage for a while :/
