Running Diagnostics

I have a 95 Nissan Maxima and my uncle has a Diagnostic tester, will that work on my nissan maxima?

If not what kind of diagnostic tester do I need and about how much does it run?

Any OBD-II reader will work.

The ODB2 connector is on the passenger side behind the ECU cover on my 95. I am not sure if it is there on all 95s but it is was not regulated until 96 to be on the driver side.
