slipping 1-2 gear shift (auto)

i know the auto tranny in our cars is horrible, but if i get mods sucj as UDP and CAi will they get rid of the lag? its almost unberable to deal with. i want to actuallly feel the throttle response right off the bat from a stanstill. from a slow roll its ok tho. i dont want to drop $600 on a VB mod

its an auto, you wont get the same response as a 5spd gets. The best you can do is downshift to first, it has decent feel.

what are you, crazy?

NEVER downshift in an auto, especially when it's slipping. Your torque converter does not lock up on the downshift, it's not like engine braking on a manual, it kills your transmission. your auto can be responsive, if done right can be even more so than any 5spd, but that's with totally bulletproofing your tranny.

if you're gonna downshift, buy a manual. If you're gonna manually shift your auto, make sure it's at an acceptable rpm, and even then, get a tranny cooler....

I had to ask because these trannies want to take off in third from a quick stop/slow roll sometimes. It is very aggreviating and yes I will drop it into first or second if needed.

I thought my trans was slipping at first as well.
