Noise while clutch is engaged
Noise while clutch is engaged
My car makes a very auditible noise kinda as if something is rubbing against something. The noise sounds like rubber or metal or a combination of both rubbing against each other. This noise only happens when my clutch is engaged in first gear and i am taking off lightly slowly releasing the clutch. This also only happens during the morning when it is cold and lasts for about 7-10 take offs. When I hear the noise i can feel it in the shifter and on the clutch pedal.
Things I have done before the noise started to happen are change the tranny fluid (amsoil ) and change the suspension. Could any of these cause the noise?
Things i have done to diagnose it are...
1. Lift the car on jack stands and run in first gear to find where the noise is comming from. The results are that the noise is no long auditible so i am assuming that weight/pressure of the car has to do something with it.
2. Check the tranny fluid and it is full.
My car is a 1998 GXE 5spd with 104k . If anyone around the Kansas City area can help me find and fix the noise i'll pay you! If anyone on the org has an idea or suggestion what the noise is I would appreciate it.

what kind of clutch...if it a centerforce dual friction the its prolly ur counter-weights about to fly off.....but if its stock..i would say ur flywheels needs resurfacing or u might have a bad pressure plate or even disk.....Does it slip at all

This is a stock clutch. What would cause a flywheel to need to be resurfaced? Is this normal maintenance? About how much would it cost to resurface the flywheel? The clutch does not slip at all ,does this rule out any of the above possible symptoms? This noise only happens in 1st gear during take off and only for about 7-10 takeoffs. Thanks for both replies!
