Bad A/C compressor. Can i bypass?

Bad A/C compressor. Can i bypass?

Ok my A/C compressor recently has gone bad, i am wondering if i can just bypass the compressor with a shorter belt or would i have no choice but to buy a new A/C compressor, has anyone done anything like this? if so please HELP!!

lol screw AC my compressor went and dont have it takes out weight too from your engine...

Yes, you can just get a shorter belt.

No, I dont know how short.

Ok, so your Ac went out. You are thinking- ****, I don't need the cold, just drive faster with the windows down.

But most cars also use the AC unit for defrost/defog ing the car. So, if you don't need that either, then take off your belt, estimate how much less you would need and go to Napa. But remember to unplug the ac unit.

OK, I was successful in bypassing the A/C compressor this morning, if anyone is going to try something like this the belt size to use is "21 mm - 920 mm", The belt i used was "K060355" or "6PK910" its a relatively easy process to put this belt on, the only tools you should need is a 14 mm socket and a 14 mm wrench (preferably 10 inches long). good luck.
